macOS Mohave Migration Utility Makes It Easier To Poach Users Away From Windows
Apple is currently beta testing the next major version of its desktop operating system, macOS Mojave, which is due to arrive on Mac systems this fall. In the meantime, users are discovering some interesting features. One of them is an expansive migration tool that will make switching from a Windows PC to macOS Mojave easier than in previous versions.
It is not a brand new tool, but a more capable version of Apple's existing Windows Migration Assistant. Twitter user @YRH04E posted a screenshot of the expanded tool showing that it is capable of porting over more data than ever before, including user accounts, documents, email, contacts, and calendar data from third-party programs such as Microsoft Outlook.

"In order to migrate your data to your Mac running macOS Mojave 10.14 beta you must download and run the Migration Assistant application for the PC," Apple explains in its release notes.
Adding the ability to pluck data from third-party programs and services is a big upgrade. Prior to this update, new Mac owners could only migrate data that resided locally on their Windows PC. The expanded Windows Migration Assistant will make it easier to switch to macOS, for users who are interested in doing that.
One thing to keep in mind is that the added functionality only exists in beta right now. It is possible (and perhaps even likely) that there are bugs still in need of squashing. Things may not go as expected, so be sure to have a backup plan. Alternately, you may want to avoid using it altogether until macOS Mojave ships in final form this fall.
