Maingear Provides Gamers with a Pulse 14 Gaming Laptop

Boutique system builder Maingear is banking on there being an audience outside of productivity junkies who can appreciate a high-powered 14-inch laptop. Hence the launch of Maingear's Pulse 14 with not only Haswell inside, but gaming grade discrete graphics courtesy of NVIDIA. Make no mistake, this 14-inch notebook is for users who'd rather play games than hammer out TPS reports.

Pricing for the Pulse 14 starts at $1,299, which gets you a "Good" configuration consisting of an Intel Core i7 4702MQ processor, GeForce GTX 760M graphics, 8GB of Corsair DDR3-1600 memory, 500GB Seagate SSHD hybrid storage, and either Windows 7 or 8.

For $1,399 you can step up to a "Better" configuration that upgrades the RAM to DDR3-1866 and swaps the storage for a 1TB hard drive + 32GB caching SSD solution. And at $1,699, the "Super Stock" version comes with 16GB of DDR3-1866 memory, two 128GB mSATA Crucial M500 SSDs in a RAID array, and a 1TB hard drive.

"All of this power and performance is wrapped up in a svelte 14” package with a 1600x900 resolution display, the perfect resolution for the included GPU to allow for high levels of detail, geometry, and texture resolution in the latest and most demanding PC games," Maingear says.

All three configurations are available to order now.
