Mass Effect: Andromeda Single Player DLC Reportedly Canceled

If you're one of the millions of Mass Effect fans that were yearning at the chance to play some additional content, you're unfortunately in for a rude awakening. While it's almost traditional to see post-release content launched for Mass Effect games, it appears that Andromeda is going to break the cycle. We can already feel the angst in the air.

It was clear from the get-go that despite the incredible hype leading up to its launch, Andromeda didn't live up to most expectations. In fact, the game's poor animations become the laughing stock of the entire Internet for the month following its launch. Still, the game still had its fans, and after all... it's still Mass Effect.

For that reason, it seemed like the game would still see some post-launch content, but the fact that it's not isn't a surprise to some. Kotaku's Jason Schreier noted that in April, BioWare scaled down its Montreal studio, which worked on Andromeda. This prefaces verification of the DLC cancellation from his three different insiders.

What's worse than scrapping the DLC is the fact that BioWare has allegedly also scrapped the idea of an entire sequel. Andromeda was to mark the beginning of a new ME chapter, and it now appears that development woes ensured its death even before its launch, which is a true pity. The big question as it stands right now involves BioWare itself. To learn of a development cancellation via rumors is almost a slap in the face to dedicated fans. Hopefully the company will either confirm or deny the rumors sooner than later.
