Mass Effect Andromeda Trailer Shows Dazzling Gameplay Footage in Stunning 4K

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Mass Effect fans will have to stay sharp and focused if they are to have any hope of surviving the brutal landscape in Bioware's upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda game. Bioware recently posted a 4K trailer of the third-person shooter that shows off lots of actual gameplay footage, and there is plenty to look for, including a barrage of enemies that don't take kindly to the protagonist's presence.

The game's producer, Michael Gamble, took to Twitter to encourage fans to dissect the nearly five-minute long trailer.

"Pick it apart. The whole thing. There's TONS in there. :) Powers, weapons, locations. New friends...and enemies," Gamble said. In a followup Twitter post, he added that he and his team are "working tirelessly to polish" Mass Effect: Andromeda before it releases to Windows PCs, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in the first quarter of 2017.

The upcoming title takes place 600 years after the first three Mass Effect games. It's the first game in the series to put players in an open world setting. Also new to Mass Effect: Andromeda is that players will start by choose from half a dozen character classes, each of which has a unique skill set. Previous titles allowed the player to assign any skills they wanted to their character en route to a specialty.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda puts you in the role of the Pathfinder; an elite soldier, explorer and guide tasked with finding humanity a new home an uncharted galaxy. From arresting visuals and thrilling combat, to epic story and characters, Mass Effect: Andromeda is truly the next generation of action/RPG gaming," Bioware says.

Danger abounds in the trailer. So do thrilling skirmishes with new weapons and locations, and of course there will be lots of exploration. Branching dialogue trees will be featured prominently as well, just as it has been in previous Mass Effect games.

About the only missing is an exact release date. Barring any further delays, it should be out within the next few months.
