DJI Mavic 2 Pro Drone Leaks With Hasselblad Camera, 31-Minute Flight Time

Earlier in the month, a leak made the rounds that claimed to show the upcoming DJI Mavic 2 drone. The leak suggested that the drone might be able to detect obstacles with a 360-degree field of view. The Mavic 2 drone has since turned up in the latest Argos catalog, despite not being officially announced by DJI just yet. The catalog actually calls out two versions of the drone, one of them is the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, which packs a 1-inch sensor, and the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom with an integrated 24-48mm zoom lens and a "Dolly Zoom" effect.

The description from the Argos catalog calls out some other specifications as well, including 1080p video transmission with a transmission distance of up to five miles. The drone can fly at up to 45mph, it's compact, and reportedly offers a 31-minute max flight time, about four minutes more flight time than the previous version. The catalog does confirm that the drone has omni-directional obstacle sensing as well, which will be a huge deal for people using the drone in an area with lots of trees or other obstacles. That omni-directional obstacle sensing also has APAS (Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems) and Active Track 2.0, which appears to be an updated version of DJI's audo-tracking technology that'll allow the drone to automatically follow its pilot.

The Mavic 2 Pro has a camera with a 1-inch sensor that is manufactured by Hasselblad, so it may offer improved image quality over some other products. Speculation with the previous rumor was that the Mavic 2 would have a removable gimbal as well to allow for some additional customization, but the catalog doesn’t call out that feature.

Many potential buyers looking for a camera drone may not care for the way the gimbal puts the camera out front and unprotected in the event of a crash. If that omni-directional sensing feature works well enough though, that might not be an issue at all. We are still waiting for an official announcement from DJI on these products and pricing hasn't been revealed yet either.
