Handsome McLaren 570GT Shows Its Softer Side, But It’s Still Ridiculously Fast

For some people, the 570S was perhaps a bit too raw to deal with on a daily basis, so the folks at McLaren have come back with the 570GT, which brings us the same basic vehicle that has been tuned more for comfort than all-out balls-to-the-wall performance. According to the company, it’s “the most refined and road-biased McLaren yet,” and it’s clear to see why.

The 570S first and foremost adds a panoramic glass roof which brightens up the cabin and McLaren has paid attention to the interior by adding copious amounts of leather and other high-quality materials throughout along with power-operated and heated seats. The 570GT retains the 150-liter “frunk” found in the 570S, but also includes a larger, leather-lined “Touring Deck” behind the seats for additional storage.

The 570GT also includes specially-designed Pirelli P Zero there that use Pirelli Noise Cancelling System (PNCS) to reduce in-cabin road noise by up to three decibels compared to the 570S. That noise reduction should come in handy considering that the 570GT now includes a standard eight-speaker McLaren Audio Plus system (a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system is optional).

One thing that hasn’t changed is the engine. You still get the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 — with no reduction in power — mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 570GT, however, is around 100 pounds heavier than the 570S, which means that it will dash to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds instead of 3.2 seconds. But we’re splitting hair here; not many people are going to scoff at a 0.2-second difference. Top speed remains unchanged at 204mph.

The McLaren 570GT is scheduled to first go on sale in the United Kingdom later this year with a starting price of £154,000. We don’t yet have a firm on idea about U.S. availability or pricing.
