We knew that Mega Man 11 would be arriving be incoming sometime this year to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the franchise, but Capcom today announced the official release date for the title. Mega Man 11 will debut on October 2nd in the United States and will be available on all major console platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) and the PC.

In this latest installment, Dr. Wily is once again wreaking havoc with a new drop of Robot Masters. The game sees the introduction of new powers including the Speed Gear (which allows youth slow down time) and the Power Gear (which will amp up the power of the Mega Buster). However, using the Double Gear power-up, you'll be able to combine both abilities at the same time, which is especially helpful when fighting a boss with a low health meter.

The launch trailer, however, only shows two of the new Robot Master that we will see in Mega Man 11: Fuse Man, who is almost dizzyingly fast in in his ability to dart around the screen, and Block Man, who can increase this size in order to smash you to bits. We're able to see the Double Gear in action in the battle with Block Man.

The will be two versions of the game released for the Nintendo Switch: a standard edition and the "Amiibo Edition" that will include a Mega Man amiibo.

In addition to Mega Man 11, we would be remiss if we didn't mention that the Mega Man X Legacy Collection will be available for consoles and PCs on July 24th. The Megan Man Collection (1-6) and the Mega Man Collection 2 (7-10) were released earlier this month for the Nintendo Switch. You can buy the entire set for $40, or purchase the collections individually.
