Mercedes Teases Track-Ready AMG GT R Pro, A 600-Plus HP Hell Chariot

Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro
The gear heads at Mercedes-Benz are building an even faster version of the AMG GT called the AMG GT R Pro, because can you ever have enough speed and grunt? That's not a question that ever needs to be asked at AMG. The new Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro is all the answer anyone needs, and it's "closer to motor racing than ever before."

Mercedes-Benz is planning to reveal the speedy upgrade at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this month. It's one of the largest auto shows in the world with over 1,000 vehicles to ogle, including cars, trucks, SUVs, electric vehicles, and more.

Ahead of the show, Mercedes-Benz took to Instagram to tease the AMG GT R Pro with an action shot from the racetrack. We only get a view from the front of the vehicle. It's dressed in camouflage and the headlights are covered, so there is not a whole lot to be gleaned from the image. It looks absolutely mean, though.

It's probably a safe assumption that the AMG GT R Pro will be lighter than the AMG GT. We also expect more horses underneath the hood. As a point of reference, the AMG GT 4-door coupe can be configured with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine outputting 577 HP and 533 lb-ft of torque. If that is not enough to get you to the grocery store and back, the AMG GT 63 S tunes the same engine to 630 HP, with an eye-popping 627 lb-ft of torque.

Now shift back to the AMG GT R Pro. It's very likely it will at least match the AMG GT 63 S in horsepower and torque, if not exceed it. Either way, we'd be shocked to see anything below 600 HP on this bad boy.

All will be revealed on November 28, which is now only a week away.
