Microsoft Attempting to Hamstring Security Software Companies?

Though Microsoft is touting their new operating system, Windows Vista, as the most secure incarnation of Windows yet, some major players in the security industry see otherwise. The folks at Symantec, McAFee, and other security companies are claiming that Microsoft is hampering their efforts by denying them access to the core of Windows Vista.

""Our goal is to deliver a fully innovative, secure version of Windows Vista that is compliant with EU law. We have an ongoing and constructive dialogue with the Commission on these issues," a Microsoft representative said. McAfee's ad echoes comments by Symantec representatives that Microsoft has withdrawn cooperation as it moves to substitute their security software with its own, giving its own product a leg-up in Windows."
