Microsoft Brings Solitaire Collection to Android And iOS Platforms, Enables Xbox Live Support

Who hasn’t played a few rounds of Solitaire on a Windows PC when looking to pass the time? I know I spent too many hours playing the game in my high school drafting classes during the 90s (along with excessive amounts of Worms and the original SimCity). Microsoft’s take on Solitaire goes all the way back to Windows 3.0 in 1990, and now Microsoft is bringing the game to competing platforms.

Microsoft announced today that the version of Solitaire included in Windows 10 will come to mobile gamers who carry around iPads, iPhones, and Samsung Galaxy smartphones (among other devices). Called the Solitaire Collection, the bundle actually includes five Solitaire card games: Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid and Tripeaks.

The Solitaire Collection is provided free of charge, but you will have to put up with ads for that privilege. The free version does, however, include one month free of Premium Edition, which gets rid of the ads and doubles the coin bonus for daily challenges. If you’d prefer to roll with the Premium Edition full-time, it will set you back $1.99 per month.

To help further entice iOS and Android gamers to choose its version of Solitaire over the hundreds of versions available across the App Store and Google Play, Microsoft has baked in support for Xbox Live. This allows you to play online against friends, earn Achievements and continue your progress across multiple devices and platforms.

Microsoft adds that in the past four years, over 119 million people have played Solitaire on Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows Mobile platforms. You can download Microsoft Solitaire Collection from Google Play and the App Store.
