Microsoft Discounts Surface Pro 6 By Up To $400 With This Hot Deal

Surface Pro 6
Microsoft's Surface Pro 6 has been around for roughly a year, which means that a replacement device is right around the corner. The next-generation device is likely to be announced next week at Microsoft's October Surface hardware event. With that in mind, you'll be happy to know that the company is offering some rather impressive discounts on the current-generation model -- up to $400 off to be exact.

For those looking at a base system -- which is packed with a Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, and a 12GB SSD -- the regular MSRP is $899. With the latest round of discounts, the price drops down to a more palatable $699. If you bump the SSD from 128GB to 256GB, that configuration carries an MSRP of $1,199, but falls to $899 representing a $300 discount. For those looking for maximum savings, take a look at the Surface Pro 6 with a Core i7 professor, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. In this configuration, the device carries an MSRP of $1,899, but is now available for $1,499.

All Surface Pro 6 models are powered by 8th generation Intel Kaby Lake Refresh processors (Core i5-8520U or Core i7-8650U). Up to 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM can be configured (not user replaceable) and up to a 1TB SSD can be ordered (again, not user replaceable). All systems come with a 12.3-inch 2736x1824 PixelSense display (3:2 aspect ratio) paired with an Intel UHD Graphics 620 IGP.

We're expecting to see the Surface Pro 7 announced next week, and the device could potentially feature Intel's power-sipping 10th generation 10nm Ice Lake-U processors. Leaked SKUs for the 2-in-1 convertible have suggested that the machine will be offered in a base configuration with a Core i3 processor, 4GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD. There's also a [nearly] top spec trim with a Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. Although it wasn’t mentioned in the leak, we're expecting there to be a 1TB SSD SKU as well like its predecessor.

Also reportedly on the docket for the October 2nd hardware event is the Surface Laptop 3, a dual-screen Surface device codenamed Centaurus, and potential updates to the Surface Book family.
