Microsoft Goes On Record ‘Windows 10 Upgrades For All Lumia Windows Phone 8 Devices’

It seems like we can't go a single month without seeing a major change happen at Microsoft that wouldn't have likely happened had the company still been under the rule of Steve Ballmer. Today, another such change is tossed on the pile, and it's a great one for anyone using a Windows Phone 8 device.

When Windows Phone 8 dropped, it left a lot of WP users in the dark - they simply had no hope of updating their phone to Redmond's latest and greatest. Considering the fact that Microsoft's a follower in the smartphone market, you'd think that it'd try very hard to cater to its pre-existing customers, but in this particular case, it hadn't. Now, we can see that the company has likely learned its lesson, because when Windows Phone 10 gets released, it'll be available to all devices that shipped with WP8.

This revelation comes hot on the heels of the release of the first non-Nokia Lumia smartphone, which we talked about earlier this week. While many were left a little underwhelmed by the fact that the Lumia 535 is a lower-end device, it seems clear that Microsoft means business when it comes to its smartphone portfolio and ecosystem, so it shouldn't be too long before the company delivers that flagship phone so many are waiting for.
