Microsoft Surface Pro With LTE Officially Cleared For December 1st Launch

If you recall, this date was first revealed by Surface Pro program manager Tim Golik back in late September. The launch date reveal by Golik was apparently provided by mistake, and Microsoft later issued a statement, claiming, "The Surface Pro with LTE will be available later this year. We will have more to share regarding specific timing and market availability in coming months."

Things took an odd turn earlier this month when the FAQ section on the Surface Pro product page was updated with the following language:

The new Surface Pro with LTE will be made available for purchase at retail Spring 2018. We're excited to bring you a Surface Pro that is now faster, lighter, quieter, and more connected than ever.

Thankfully, this confirmation from Panay means that those who have been eagerly awaiting the tablet's release only have to wait one more month to purchase one.  Even so, it's unfortunate that it has taken this long for the LTE model to arrive; the standard Surface Pro debuted in late May.

The Surface Pro with LTE will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 modem supporting 20 LTE bands. That should allow the device to work in just about any country across the globe. Download speeds via LTE should be able to reach 450 Mbps according to Microsoft.

When it comes to pricing, the base Surface Pro with LTE will feature an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD for $1,149. Sticking with the Core i5 processor and doubling RAM and storage to 8GB and 256GB respectively boosts the price to $1,449. These prices represent a $150 increase over their non-LTE counterparts.
