Microsoft's Free Windows 10 Upgrades For Assistive Technologies Users Ends This Week

However, Microsoft continued to provide the free upgrade for those that told the company that they made use of assistive technologies. The last day to take advantage of this offer is Sunday:

If you use assistive technologies, you can upgrade to Windows 10 at no cost as Microsoft continues our efforts to improve the Windows 10 experience for people who use these technologies. Please take advantage of this offer before it expires on December 31, 2017.

Although this offer has been targeted at customers that use assistive technologies, the company has no "checks" in place to determine if they are actually telling the truth. So, anyone can claim the free upgrade as long as their system qualifies. With that bring said, Microsoft likely isn't too worried one way or the other, and perhaps left this loophole open to help boost Windows 10's install base.

It remains to be seen if Microsoft will end up extending the deadline again to allow this loophole to linger on for the foreseeable future. However, we wouldn’t bet against the offer being extended, perhaps with less promotion from the company.

Microsoft announced last month that Windows 10 is currently installed on over 600 million devices globally. However, that figure not only includes PCs, but Windows 10 Mobile smartphones and Xbox One consoles as well.
