Microsoft Xbox One February Update Rolls Out With Improvements Galore
Those of you who own an Xbox One console, be advised there's a new update available. The quickest way to get it is to use the "Instant On" feature, which is a low-power state that allows you to power up the console by saying "Xbox On." Microsoft recently changed the way it doles out updates so that if you use the Instant On feature, it will automatically check for updates when you turn the console off.
"This means now that we've made the February update available, the next time you turn your console off it will take the update during off-peak hours in your local time. All that to say, never fear, you'll see it sometime over the weekend," Microsoft states on its Major Nelson website.
After applying the update, you'll be able to see and manage your storage space, as well as control your install lineup and more easily manage your download queue, Microsoft says. You'll find that My Games and My Apps are now in separate lists, making it easy to create separate queues for each.
The update also brings back the battery power indicator, which you can view on the home screen, and you can now use your USB keyboard with your Xbox One.
Hoping for more? As luck would have it, there's quite a bit more that Microsoft shoved into its latest update. You can expect improved installation and DLC management; improved NAT detection; an improved UI for accessing friends, achievements, messages, and party chat; improvements to the Network Troubleshooter; and more, plus "significant performance and stability improvements."
