Microsoft's "TouchWins" Program Offers Resellers Kickbacks for Selling Select Windows 8 Devices

Microsoft's message to resellers is, 'You scratch my back and I'll scratch your back.' To be more specific, Microsoft introduced a new program called "TouchWins" that allows participating retailers to receive $5 to $10 for each Windows 8 device they sell from a list of 21 Windows 8 touch-enabled PCs and tablets.

"The whole idea is to provide incentives for the commercial channel for featured devices and tablets, PCs and tablets, and through this program we will provide incentives directly to authorized distributors, as well as reseller partners, who sell featured PCs and tablets that have Windows Pro and are touch-enabled," Tami Reller, CFO of Microsoft's Windows division, said during a keynote at the company's Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC), according to ComputerWorld.

Microsoft later likened the program to "pouring gasoline on the touch fire," or so it hopes. Spreading the love around, qualifying devices come from nine different OEMs, including Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony, and Toshiba. Acer alone had three different devices make the list, including its Aspire S7 Ultrabook, 10.1-inch Iconia W5 tablet, and 11.6-inch Iconia @7 tablet
