Tesla Ramps Model 3 Production, Smokin' Performance Dual Motor Wait Times As Low As 30 Days

Tesla has been going through "production hell" with the Model 3 EV as it strives to boost output to meet demand. CEO Elon Musk had promised that the automaker would hit 6,000 cars a week and has come close to that promise hitting production levels of 5,000 units per week. Tesla is now offering a much faster delivery window for all Model 3 variants including the sweet dual motor Performance edition of the car capable of 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

The new delivery estimates for the car are 1-3 months for the dual motor Performance Model 3, 2-4 months on the dual motor long range version of the car, and 1-3 months on the long-range rear-wheel version of the car. The latter is the only version of the car that has been in production from the start of the Model 3. This means that some buyers will be able to order their cars and have them within a month.

Buyers who want to get the dual motor Long Range AWD offering will have to wait a bit longer but still could have their cars within 60 days of ordering. There is no update for the standard battery pack option that will be the least costly of the Model 3 range.

Tesla has been making some changes to its sales model and has moved to a commission system for sales staff when selling the Performance version of the Model 3. The EV maker is also reportedly getting away from the reservation process. Faster delivery times is certainly good news for those on the fence about ordering a Tesla Model 3.
