Motorola Atrix 4G Launch Date Moved Up to Feb. 22

The release date for the highly anticipated Motorola Atrix 4G has been moved up from March 6 to Feb. 22, according to reports and a Tweet from Seth Bloom, who is in charge of "Blogger relations for AT&T" via Fleishman-Hillard.

The Tweet indicates that Motorola and AT&T beat their target timing. Originally scheduled for March 6, Atrix 4G in-store sales will begin on February 22, instead. The Tweet added that existing pre-orders will be shipped for delivery on February 21, the day before retail launch.

The Atrix 4G is more than a smartphone; it's a modular ecosystem that can plug-into a laptop dock and be used as a replacement for a laptop. The only negative to that is the fact that AT&T requires a tethering plan (AKA, spend more money for your service plan) before you can use the full features on the dock (meaning, for example, Firefox) without wi-fi.

Of course, once the Atrix is rooted, this limitation may in fact vanish. A demo of the laptop dock can be seen below.
