Motorola Moto X Returns To Smartphone Lineup In Leaked 2017 Roadmap

The next Moto X may be coming to a store near you soon. Mobile reporter Evan Blass recently tweeted a few images promoting the “Moto X 2017” or “Moto X4”.

The tweet revealed what is purportedly Lenovo’s phone roadmap. The image does not offer much, however, it does show that the Moto X4 will incorporate a 5.2-inch "3D glass" display and a "SmartCam”. A video leak posted to reddit also indicated that the Moto X4 will include a Snapdragon 660 processor, a hefty 3,800mAh battery, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a fingerprint reader.

The image also unveiled new Moto Z Play and Z Force devices. The upcoming Z Play will include 5.5-inch FHD display and “mods”, while the new Force will incorporate gigabit LTE data. There will also be a a Moto GS and GS+, with a dual rear camera on the Plus device. Motorola also hinted that there will be two new Moto E’s, one with a 5,000mAh battery, and two Moto C’s, one with a 4,000mAh battery.

It is unclear when these various devices will be released, however, many hope that the Moto X in particular will be released by the end of 2017. The first Moto X was released in 2013, while the second generation device was released in 2014. The Moto X Style (branded as Moto X Pure Edition in the United States), Moto X Force (Droid Turbo 2), and Moto X Play (Droid Maxx 2) succeeded the second generation devices in 2015.

The Moto X devices have continued to be fan favorites. Motorola even rolled out Android 7.0 Nougat to a number of legacy devices last autumn. This is quite a statement considering that only 7% of Android devices currently run Nougat. Although the Moto X devices were well-received, the Moto Z, E and G families have taken the spotlight over the last two years.
