Motorola Reveals Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Upgrade Roadmap

Every Android fan wants a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) and those ICS updates can't come out fast enough. Even worse is not knowing when your phone or tablet will receive an upgrade, forcing you spend more time that you'd like scouring the Web looking for any hint of new information, substantiated or not. Well, if you own a Motorola device, you don't have to guess when you'll receive Ice Cream Sandwich because Motorola oh-so-kindly provided a detailed roadmap today.

It's not exactly the smoothest of roadmaps, in which Motorola breaks down the upgrade development cycle into four different phases: Evaluation & Planning, Development, Testing, and Available.

As it stands, ICS is already en-route to Wi-Fi edition Xoom tablet owners, and will be shipping to Family Edition models in the second quarter of 2012. The third quarter is when Motorola will look to get serious with several ICS updates, including Android 4.0 upgrades for the Atrix 4G, Photon 4G, Xoom 2, Xyboard 8.2, and Xyboard 10.1.

Several other devices have been confirmed to receive ICS, though no release date has yet been given. These include the Droid 4, Droid Bionic, Droid Razr, Droid Razr Maxx, and a handful of others. You can follow along on your own by bookmarking this site.
