MSI Merging with Gigabyte?
DigiTimes reports that both MSI and Gigabyte and dismissing rumors that the two motherboard vendors would be merging. Suprisingly, neither side denied having entertained the thought of merging in the past. Were the two Tier-I motherboard vendors to merge down the road, Tier-II vendors would certainly feel more pressure and possibly be driven out of the market.
MSI chairman Joseph Hsu dismissed a media report circulating in China that cited a senior MSI executive, Henry Lu, as claiming the company had started contacting Gigabyte five years ago over a possible merger.
