MSI Steps Up Its Mobile Gaming Product Line With NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs
MSI announced that two of its popular gaming notebooks will be upgraded with NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX graphics processors, which will drive performance up higher and support new features such as ray-tracing in next-gen games. These existing products will be joined by a new high-end gaming notebook and a new Prestige-series laptop.
"MSI is devoted to gaming and our lineup reaffirms our position as an industry leader endorsed by gamers and eSports teams worldwide," said Charles Chiang, MSI's new global CEO. "We are honored to be recognized by the CES awards panel and will continue to push boundaries to achieve extreme performance, superior design, and maximum reliability."
Kicking things off, MSI announced that it's 17" GE75 Raider will be renovated with a GeForce RTX 2080 GPU. MSI didn't disclose the full specs for the updated version, but assuming they remain unchanged from the current GeForce GTX 1070 model of the system, then we are looking at a system with up to an Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor, a 1080p 144Hz IPS display, and up to 32GB of DDR4 operating a 2,666MHz. The system will have a per-key RGB backlit keyboard though, and a metal exterior. MSI also confirmed that the system will have it's Cooler Booster 5 thermal solution that has seven copper heat pipes.
The GE75 Raider will be joined by another high-end 17.3" gaming notebook that MSI has named the GS75 Stealth. This robust system shares many similar specs with the GE75 Raider including a 144Hz 1080p IPS display, an Intel Core i7 processor, of course a GeForce RTX 2080 graphics processor. This system will also have large speakers constructed by Dynaudio. MSI didn't disclose exactly which Intel Core i7 will be used inside of the this system, but it will likely utilize the Intel Core i7-8750H as well. The GE75 Raider has an aluminum alloy body, and it is rather thin at just 0.75-inches. The notebook's exterior also has a rather classy appearance that is predominantly black with gold highlights.
In the 15.6" market segment MSI also updated its GS65 Stealth, which weighs in at 4.19lbs with an Intel Core i7-8750H and up to 16GB of DDR4 memory. MSI constructed this PC with a sleek black aluminum exterior, and the system is just 0.69-inches thin. The upgraded Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 used on this system will be tasked with pushing games over a 1080p 144Hz display.
MSI said that it will be partnering with Ubisoft to enrich the gaming experience on these systems in titles such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey. The plan is to use the notebook's per-key RGB lit keyboard to produce illumination effects while gaming. There is also a plan to support haptic feedback underneath the palm rest, but it's not entirely clear how this will be achieved.
The last system announced by MSI today is the PS63 Modern, and it is also the most different. Although this system can be used for gaming, it isn't targeted as a gaming solution. Instead, it's oriented towards professional content creators. It will feature a high-end Intel Core i7 processor, but it has a less capable NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics processor. The PE63 Modern is designed to be both thin and light at 3.53lbs and 0.63-inches thick. Among the systems more prominent features is a fingerprint sensor and a battery that MSI claimed can last for up to 16 hours. The system will also come with a proprietary software package that MSI calls Creator Center.
