MSI Trident X Gaming PC Crams Core i9-9900K And GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Into Compact Chassis
The Trident X is available with Intel's new 9th generation Core processors that were announced yesterday. In this case, customers can choose from the 8-core/8-thread Core i7-9700K or the 8-core/16-thread Core i9-9900K. When it comes to graphics options, you can choose from the GeForce RTX 2070, RTX 2080 or the range-topping RTX 2080 Ti. Needless to say, that's a lot of firepower that is packed within a 10-liter chassis.
Interestingly, MSI hasn't opted for Intel's new Z390 chipset, which launched alongside the 9th generation Core processors, and is instead relying on the older Z370 chipset. With that being said, there's support for up to 32GB of DDR4-2666 memory via dual DIMM slots, a single M.2 SSD and two 2.5-inch drive bays. There are a plethora of USB-A and USB-C ports on the front and back of the device, and customers will receive either a 450W 80 Plus Bronze Certified PSU or 650W 80 Plus Gold Certified PSU depending on how the system is spec'd.
The Trident X is equipped with a hinged, tempered glass side panel, allowing for easy access to all of the internal components. MSI has designed the bottom edge of the glass to help direct heat away from the processor to lower internal temperatures. In addition, the glass panel allows the RGB fan inside to shine through to the outside world. The system also employs MSI's Silent Storm Cooling system, which has three separate airflow channels to keep separate components (i.e. the processor and the GPU) nice and chilly under intense gaming sessions.
MSI says that the Trident X will be available next month with a starting price of $2,299.
