MSI Unleashes GP62X And GP72X Leopard Gaming Notebooks With Kaby Lake And NVIDIA Pascal
Gaming notebooks are near and dear to our hearts, so our ears definitely perked up with the announcement of two new products coming out from MSI: the GP62X and GP72X Leopard Pro Series. Both machines are powered by Intel’s latest seventh-generation Kaby Lake processors and have plenty of features targeted at on-the-go gamers.
The GP62X has a 15.6-inch 1080p display, while the GP72X has a 17.3-inch 1080p display. The larger display features a 5ms response time and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both notebooks feature a Kaby Lake Core i7 processor paired with a single 16GB stick of memory (systems are upgradeable to 32GB), M.2 NVMe PCIe and 2.5-inch SATA storage options, Killer GbE, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. Other features include a single USB 3.1 Type-C port, two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 ports, an SD reader, HDMI and Mini-DisplayPort.
On the graphics front, you have three options, all of which are NVIDIA Pascal-powered. Base systems are available with either GeForce GTX 1050 or GeForce GTX 1050 Ti discrete graphics. If you want to up the stakes a bit, you can opt for a GeForce GTX 1060 with 3GB of GDDR5 memory.
No matter if you opt for the 15.6- or 17.6-inch models, you’ll still be presented with a 6-cell 41 Whr battery. In addition, six heat pipes and two fans help keep your notebook running cool in even the most extreme gaming sessions.
Both the GP62X and GP72X are equipped with a SteelSeries RGB keyboard and SteelSeries Engine 3 support. Using the SteelSeries Engine 3, each individual key can be customized for color, and the keyboard can be color-optimized based on in-game action using GameSense. According to MSI, the first games that support GameSense include Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Minecraft.
MSI says that GP62X and GP72X are available starting today from $1,099 and $1,599 respectively.
