Mushkin Launches Enterprise Friendly ProSpec Solid State Drives

Remember Mushkin? The company isn't in the headlines as much as it used to be when it was cranking out enthusiast grade memory at a breakneck pace, but it hasn't faded off into obscurity either. Mushkin's on hand at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, and among the products it brought with it is a new line of enterprise-class solid state drives (SSDs)

Mushkin's ProSpec SSDs are powered by LSI's SandForce SF-2582 controller and Enterprise MLC (eMLC) flash memory that supposedly is able to achieve 10X the write endurance as regular SSDs, and without any performance degradation.

On the topic of performance, random read and write performance checks in at 80,000 and 42,000 IOPS, respectively, along with a sustained transfer rate of 560MB/s.

Other features include a SATA 6Gbps interface, 128-bit AES hardware encryption, S.M.A.R.T. support, Garbage Collection, TRIM support, and Mushkin's Power Safe technology, which provides enhanced power-loss data protection through hardware and firmware-based features.

No word yet on when the drives will be available or for how much.
