Netgear's R6300 Wi-Fi Router Wins Race to 802.11ac Compliance
Netgear today introduced the availability of what it claims is the world's first 802.11ac Wi-Fi router. It's the Netgear R6300 and it's an 802.11ac dual-band gigabit Wi-Fi router with support for 5th generation (5G) Wi-Fi, and is also backwards compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n.
Powered by Broadcom's 5G Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11ac chips, Netgear says its newest router is up to three times faster than today's 802.11n routers. It can hit speeds up to 1300Mbps on 5GHz and 450Mbps on 2.4GHz, and is loaded to the brim with features like ReadySHARE printer support, DLNA, parental controls, automatic Wi-Fi security, AirPrint support, advanced Quality of Service (QoS), IPv6 support, and more.
