New iPhone App Helps You Find A Doctor

If you find yourself in an unfamiliar city and feeling a bit under the weather, a new iPhone app may be useful. The new i Need a Doctor (www.ineedadoc.net) app helps you find a nearby physician using powerful databases from two of the most respected doctor-rating services in the United States.

As a joint venture between The Paladin Group LLC (the app developer), the health care research organization Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. (www.castleconnolly.com), and the physician rating site DrScore (www.drscore.com), the new app combines information from the companies databases into a real-time, user-friendly application.

Ralph DiSibio, CEO of Paladin, LLC, said “The app helps everyone from people who need a doctor when they are away from home to those who are searching for a top doctor in a particular specialty to those who are trying to help aging parents in a distant city find medical help.”

After opening the application, users can enter a zip code and choose from more than 100 specialties to help narrow the list of available doctors. After entering search criteria, a list of doctors will appear with icons next to each. You can then see more information about a doctor, including his or her years of practice, schools attended, address, and phone number. A Google icon will bring up a map and directions to the physician's office. In addition to basic information about a doctor, users can also access any patient ratings the doctor has received and see if the doctor has earned the "Top Doctor" designation.

You can buy the i Need a Doctor app for $4.99 from the Apple iTunes Store.
