"One Laptop per Child" to sell to the public

Following up on their prior announcement that they were mulling over public sales of the XO-1, the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) Foundation has announced the "Give 1, Get 1 Program."

One laptop will be sent to the buyer whilst a child in the developing world will receive the second machine

The G1G1 scheme, as it is known, will offer the laptops for just two weeks, starting on the 12 November.

The offer to the general public comes after the project's founder admitted that concrete orders from the governments of developing nations had not always followed verbal agreements

If you go to the OLPC Foundation's website you can sign up for an email reminder of the date of the offer.  You can also, if you prefer, simply donate a laptop, rather than opting for the G1G1 program.
