Nintendo DSi to Reach U.S. Shores April 5th
The Nintendo DSi, which was announced in October, is set to hit U.S. shores on April 5th, according to a Nintendo press release.
The DSi, which launched in Japan in November, is about 12% thinner than the DS Lite. The screens are slightly larger, at 3.25", and the DSi also has an SD card slot. Photos can be synced with the Wii Photo channel.
However, the DSi loses the GBA cartridge slot.
Additional features: a built-in camera (3 megapixel external, 0.3 megapixel internal) and music playback / voice recording, which Nintendo calls the Nintendo DSi Sound application. The DSi also supports an online app store, known as DSiWare, which will let users to download software directly to the system over wi-fi.
Pricing? $170 in light blue and black. That's of particular interest because when the DSi launched in Japan it sold for the equivalent of $192. Looks like U.S. consumers are getting a (small) price break.
