Nintendo SNES Classic Returns To Best Buy Today, In Stores Only

If one of the big gift items for someone on your Christmas list is the SNES Classic Edition, here is another chance to get your hands on one. Best Buy will have the SNES Classic Edition in stores only today. The stores are opening at 9 a.m. local time on Saturday and limited quantities will be available for folks to fight over.

Anyone trying to get hands on one of these consoles had better show up early, they are being sold on a first come, first served basis. Just as it did when the SNES Classic launched, Best Buy is using a ticketing system, if you get a ticket you get a console. Only a single console per customer is allowed.

The console is not available on the Bestbuy.com website. Best Buy writes, "The Super NES Classic Edition will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Our stores will offer a ticketing process before we open for customers waiting in line – the same ticketing process we’ll offer for the Saturday doorbuster deals."

If you aren’t already in line, it may be too late to get your hands on a ticket. The SNES Classic Edition comes with 21 games installed with the most interesting being the Star Fox 2 game that was never released back in the day. The retro console will connect to any HDTV using an included HDMI cable.

You do get two controllers with this console, so you can play with a friend if you want. Sales of the SNES Classic Edition have been robust with analytics firm NPD writing that consoles sales were up 19% year-over-year mostly thanks to the Nintendo Switch and the SNES Classic Edition. Earlier this month the SNES Classic Edition returned to Walmart, where it quickly sold out. We have no idea how many more opportunities there will be to purchase the SNES Classic before Christmas.
