Nintendo SNES Classic Returns To Walmart This Week, Here's When And Where To Order

With Christmas right around the corner, you might be sweating what to get the gamer in your life. If a SNES Classic Edition retro console might be the ticket to holiday happiness for someone on your list, Walmart will have more coming and could potentially deliver the goods. You will have a chance to order one starting at 11 am PST daily from November 15 through the 17th. It's not clear how many of the consoles will be available.

What we do know is that you can hit the page here and see if they have stock. As of writing, there is no stock listed, but that can change so keep checking. Walmart is limiting people to one console per order, so scalpers can’t buy them all up and sell them at a markup.

There is also a chance that if you had a preorder through Walmart that was placed on backorder, Walmart may be fulfilling some of those orders now too. Reports are circulating that backordered preorders from a far back as August are being charged to credit cards this week. The last time there was a major restock of SNES Classic edition consoles was back in October and after this week it's not clear how much stock might be available before Christmas.

Amazon has a dedicated retro gaming storefront now that you might want to be checking as well. While there is no indication that Amazon will be getting more stock, it would be worth keeping an eye on that page as well. It's not uncommon for major retailers to get stock around the same time as their competitors.

While the big draw for many SNES Classic hopefuls is the games that come pre-installed on the console, you can hack it to add more. Instructions on how to do that surfaced in early October and while it's complex, serious retro gamers might want to give it a shot.
