Nokia 9 PureView Official Render Leaks Revealing Penta-Lens Camera System
One of two things need to happen before a leak or rumor graduates to 'confirmed' status—either the company behind the unreleased product has to make a formal announcement or acknowledgement, or prominent leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter) needs to get his hands on a press render and post it for all the world to see. Sure, technically speaking, the latter is still not a confirmation, but it might as well be. We bring this up because Blass has posted what looks to be a legitimate press render of the upcoming Nokia 9 PureView.
What's immediately visible in the press render is the rumored Penta-Lens camera system. There are actually seven (yes, SEVEN!) circular cutouts in the rear of the handsets, five of which house camera sensors. The other two are for the LED flash and proximity sensor.
Each of the seven circular cutouts appear to be the same size. Collectively, they occupy around a third of the handset on the rear. It's a funky looking design, even compared to smartphones that wield dual or even triple camera arrangements, like Huawei's P20 Pro and Samsung's Galaxy A7.
Interestingly, rumor has it the Nokia 9 PureView was originally supposed to debut in 2018, but was delayed because of HMD Global was not thrilled with the camera performance. That's obviously something the Nokia 9 PureView will have to nail, because having five camera sensors raises expectations on the part of the consumer.
The leaked image also shows that HMD is going with a bezel instead of a notch on the front of the Nokia 9 PureView, or a punch-hole design like some smartphone makers (including Samsung) are experimenting with for their next-gen handsets.
Unfortunately, Blass didn't share any other details about the Nokia 9 PureView. It will be interesting to see if it ships with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, as was previously rumored, or if it will debut with a newer (and faster) Snapdragon 855 chip.
Previous leaks and rumors also point to the Nokia 9 PureView as having a 5.9-inch Quad HD+ display, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of onboard storage.
