Nokia's Music+ Subscription Service Brings Loads Of Features For Just $4 per Month

These days, it's tough to find a major consumer electronics company that doesn't have its hand in the music world. From Apple to Samsung to Microsoft, music is now a pretty common card to play. Nokia's no different. The company already had the Nokia Music platform, but now, it's pulling a Google by tossing a "+" sign onto the end of it and sprucing things up a bit. Nokia Music+ is a new subscription-based service that costs just €3.99/$3.99 per month. For those that love the original free Mix Radio service, it will remain intact – this is all about adding extra.

By introducing features like infinite skips and unlimited downloads, the service is expanding in a way that'll make it more viable against things like MOG and Spotify. What does the monthly tally get you? Unlimited skips, downloads, and higher quality. he free service allows you to download up to four Mixes (each of which contains hours of music) and play them without an Internet connection. The paid service removes this limit – you can download a massive supply of offline music you can swap as you wish. The Nokia Music+ subscription also gives you access to the service without your phone. A web-app gives you the ability to play Mixes on your computer, smart TV or other connected screens.

It'll start rolling out in the next few weeks, with pricing to vary slightly depending on region. Still, it's much cheaper than the common "$10/month" fare that's typically thrown around, and it'll be interesting to see if rival services lower their rates to better compete.
