Not For U.S. Consumption: Lenovo Teases Fresh Smartphones, Wearable, Selfie Flash

Lenovo has already blitzed us with numerous tablets, convertibles, laptops, and all-in-ones, but the Chinese OEM isn’t finished yet. Far from it. It’s also has some smartphones and wearables to announce, but for better or worse, they won’t be coming to the United States.

First up is the Vibe X2 Pro, which is available in a quite patriotic red, white, and blue color scheme. U.S. users aren’t missing out on much as this is a pretty run-of-the-mill smartphone with mid-range specs. The slab-like smartphone is rockin’ a 5.3-inch Full HD display and a 64-bit, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Both the front- and rear-facing cameras are 13MP units and you’ll find dual nano SIM slots, a 2410 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, 802.11ac, and LTE (no LTE-A support) to handle your wireless connectivity needs.

The P90 ditches Qualcomm Snapdragon power in favor of the first 64-bit, 1.8GHz Intel Atom processor to be used in a smartphone. The screen also grows in size to 5.5-inches compared to the Vibe X2 Pro, but retains the Full HD resolution.

It should be noted that you’ll find a massive 4000 mAh battery under the hood of the P90, which eclipses even the 3900 mAh battery used in the Motorola Droid Turbo. Lenovo says that it’s good for two days of battery life, but as we’ve seen with the Droid Turbo’s rated battery life, your mileage may vary.

In addition to the fresh smartphones, Lenovo has trotted out a new smartband called the Vibe Band VB10. To put it nicely, the Vibe Band VB10 looks “unique” and isn’t exactly something that will catch your eye like the recently announced Withings Activité Pop. The Vibe Band VB10 can display phone and social notifications and can handle fitness tracking. The waterproof wearable features a curved E-ink display that allows it to last an entire week during normal usage with the display always on. That’s something that we can’t say for the latest crop of Android Wear smartphones on the market.

The last announcement comes in the form of the quirky looking Vibe Extension Selfie Flash. This particular mobile peripheral plugs into your smartphone’s audio jack and as its name implies, provide additional light when taking a selfies. According to Lenovo it has “100 percent shutter synchronization” and will last through 100 selfie flashes before requiring a recharge. Although the Vibe Extension Selfie Flash was designed to be used with Vibe X2 Pro, it can also be used with other Android-based smartphones.

As we’ve already stated, none of these devices will be available for U.S. consumers, so you can look, but you won’t be able to touch them anytime soon.
