One of the key features for the smartphone is the 6.65-inch Full HD AMOLED display that has a refresh rate of 90Hz and supports DC dimming and HDR. The SoC inside the Magic 3 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, and it is paired with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of storage. There are three additional versions of the Nubia Red Magic 3 gaming phone that each offers a different amount of RAM and storage.

Power for the smartphone is via a massive 5,000 mAh internal battery that supports 30W fast charging.

The rear camera is a 48MP Sony IMX 586 f/1.7 unit with a 16MP f/2.0 front camera for snapping selfies. The Red Magic 3 is IP55 certified for dust and water resistance. Interestingly, Nubia fits an internal fan for active cooling that claims very low power consumption, as it is able to run for an hour and consume only 1% of the battery power available.

Active cooling is something you don't find on smartphones today and should help keep the high-end hardware nice and cool even with extended gaming sessions. There are a pair of shoulder buttons on the smartphone and a rear fingerprint sensor. The device also has a couple of front-facing stereo speakers, and the OS is Android 9 Pie with Nubia software over the top.

Pricing for the device is CNY 2,899 or about $430 for the base version offered in black. The next step up costs CNY 3,199 or about $475 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage version. The 8GB and 128GB of storage version is only in red and sells for CNY 3,499 or about $520. The high-end 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version come in camo or blue/red gradient colors for CNY 4,299 or about $640. All versions will launch in China on May 3.
