Additionally, NVIDIA is simultaneously announcing its SLI Multi-OS, which is explained as a "ground-breaking technology that enables, for the first time, 3D workstation virtualization on the Quadro GPU." Specifically, this development allows applications and users to optimize productivity and costs through the use of multiple Quadro GPU technologies from a single workstation in a virtualized environment. In layman's terms, this means that for the first time ever, pro users can tap into multiple Quadro GPUs within a single workstation (so long as it runs Windows XP, Windows Vista or Linux) in a virtualized environment.
As NVIDIA states: "Built into the new Quadro FX 3800, Quadro FX 4800, and Quadro FX 5800, SLI Multi-OS allows users to tap into the advanced visualization and compute capabilities of the Quadro GPUs to experience full graphics performance within a virtualized system. SLI Multi-OS works in association with Parallels Workstation Extreme virtualization software and Intel’s VT-d technology, assigning both the host and guest virtual machine its own dedicated GPU."
