NVIDIA GeForce GTX 11 Series Mobile GPUs Due In Second Half 2018 Alleges Gigabyte Rep

As consumers, we're all sitting here twiddling our thumbs patiently waiting for NVIDIA to release its next generation GPUs. Not that Pascal isn't cutting it anymore. Far from it, but after two years on the market, we're ready for Turing or Ampere or whatever NVIDIA has up its sleeves. It could still be several months before see new GPUs though, with a representative for Gigabyte inadvertently tipping availability for the end of the year.

In a post that is no longer accessible on OverclockersUK's forum, a "vendor rep" for Gigabyte and its Aorus division answered a question about what immediate changes are in store for Gigabyte's Aero 15 X laptop line, and specifically if higher spec'd models are coming out in June.

"The ranging coming in now will be stable and not having any additional refreshes until the next gen of GPUs is announced. Currently scheduled more towards the end of the year," the rep stated.

Gigabyte's Aero 15 X is a 15.6-inch laptop line built for gaming. They feature NVIDIA's mobile range of GPUs with Max-Q design, paired with a 144Hz display and up to 8th generation Intel Core processor options. Aero 15X laptops are fast machines with premium specifications across the board (DDR4 2666MHz memory, M.2 PCIe SSDs, optional 4K resolution, and so forth).

It stands to reason that Gigabyte would be kept in the loop from companies like NVIDIA about what new parts are in the pipeline, so they can plan accordingly. Of course, the rep could be mistaken on the timeline. NVIDIA could also adjust its roadmap at any given moment. Barring one of those things, however, it looks like we'll finally see new gaming GPUs from NVIDIA towards the end of the year, at least on the mobile side (and likely on desktops, too).
