NVIDIA Releases Latest Verde Notebook Drivers, Includes Windows Vista/7/8 Support
It can feel a little like Christmas when new drivers become available, as they typically promise performance upgrades, problem fixes, and improved all-around support; the latest beta drivers from NVIDIA certainly deliver.
Version 304.79 of the R304 Verde drivers adds or updates support for SLI profiles for a number of games, including The Secret World, End of Nations, Nexuiz, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Tornado Force, and Tribes: Ascend. The update will fix several known issues, including a power management settings mode problem, getting a black screen after a driver installation, and a bug that caused a system reboot instead of a shutdown. Those playing Civilization V on GeForce 400 and 500 series GPUs get a compatibility fix, and this update solves a flickering or missing mouse cursor glitch in online games such as WoW and Eve Online. Version 304.79 also fixes an issue where users got terribly low framerates in Deus X: Human Revolution.
Dell Alienware M17x, ready for a driver upgrade
NVIDIA also says that this is the first GeForce driver to roll support for Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 into a single driver.
Bear in mind that these are beta drivers, but if you’re willing to test the waters, you can download version 304.79 here.
