NVIDIA Reportedly Stockpiling GeForce GTX 11 Turing GPUs For Explosive 2018 Launch
Now we're learning that NVIDIA is stockpiling roughly one million next-generation GTX 11 GPUs so that there will be an adequate supply of graphics cards to go around for a Q3 or Q4 2018 launch. It has been two years since the Pascal-based GeForce GTX 10 Series landed, so there is pent-up demand for this family's successor to fuel the 4K gaming craze.
Back in early June, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang suggested that the GeForce GTX 11 Series would launch "a long time from now", but we may not have wait much longer. NVIDIA sent out invites to the press for a Gamescom event on August 21st, and the next-generation mainstream GPUs are sure to be a topic of discussion. NVIDIA has also been playing into "Turing" mania, celebrating Alan Turing's birthday recently in a Twitter post:

There are expected to be at least two graphics cards available at launch: the GeForce GTX 1180 and the GeForce GTX 1160. However, we can expect for the family to be fleshed out over the coming year with additional variants including a GTX 1180 Ti, GTX 1170, GTX 1150 and so forth. We're even hearing that a mobile GeForce GTX 1160 with 6GB of GDDR6 is expected later this year for gaming notebooks.
The GeForce GTX 1180 will be the initial range-topping offering in the Turing family with 3,584 CUDA cores and a base GPU clock of 1.6GHz. The GPU is expected to boost to a frequency of 1.8GHz and will include 16GB of GDDR6 memory.
