We’ve heard plenty about the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, but we haven’t seen much with regards to official images of the unreleased smartphones. Well, you can always count on Evan Blass to spoil the fun for manufacturers, as the serial leaker has provided some high quality renders of Samsung’s upcoming flagships.

As you can see from the images below, Samsung didn’t reinvent the wheel this time around with regards to design. Just as Apple keeps a two-year cadence with its smartphone designs (i.e. iPhone 5/5s and iPhone 6/6s), Samsung looks to be going down the same route -- both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge look nearly identical to their predecessors.

There are some naming changes, however (other than the number increment in the name). The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were both available with 5.1-inch screens, while the Galaxy S6 Edge+ brought with it a 5.7-inch display. This time around, the Galaxy S7 retains the 5.1-inch display while the Galaxy S7 Edge features a display measuring 5.5-inches, down slightly from last year’s Galaxy S6 Edge+.

While there are no big exterior changes to speak of, battery life (one of the few weak points of Samsung’s 2015 flagships) has been improved, with the non-removable batteries increasing to capacities of 3000mAh and 3600mAh respectively. It’s also said that both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will include a microSD slot (something missing from last year’s flagships), pressure sensitive displays (similar to 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus) and IP67 dust/water resistance.

We expect to hear a lot more about the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge during the lead up to the Mobile World Congress next month.
