Oh Fap! Hackers Expose 800,000 User Accounts In Latest Attack On Brazzers Porn Forum

In the world of pornography, Brazzers is about as de facto a name as it gets. Even if you don't indulge in what the adult entertainment offers, Brazzers is a recognizable name thanks to the fact that it's become its own meme. But it's hard to tell, just how big is Brazzers?

Well, as we now learn, it's big enough to have attracted a staggering 800,000 people to its Web forum. We probably don't need to tell you that traditional forums are less popular than ever, so to have that kind of count in 2016 is quite something.

Sadly, we find this out because of yet another breach, with all 800,000 accounts having been leaked. The information included involves email addresses, usernames, and most baffling, plaintext passwords.

The fact that plaintext passwords were involved means that the attacker could try the username/password combinations on other services. While it should be obvious by this point just how important a strong password is, many still use the same credentials for every site they use. It's those folks that will find themselves at the greatest risk in attacks like these.

You could consider this another lesson in the importance of choosing good passwords, but it's also a good hint to the fact that vBulletin has been attacked numerous times over the years. So if you're a website owner that uses vBulletin, you'll want to make certain that you're kept up-to-date, and that you're not using any third-party plugins that could expose a gaping hole in your security.

Brazzers says that some of the credentials were part of another leak in 2012, but at some point, accounts from both its main site and forum were combined for the sake of user ease. Whether that decision resulted in this issue being more severe than it could have been, we're not sure.

It's a fact of life that websites are going to be hacked; even the biggest and best out there have it happen. If you're using insecure passwords, or the same password for all services, you're not doing yourself a favor. Use strong passwords! And maybe consider whether or not you really need a membership to a porn Web forum.
