OnePlus 5 Announced With 5.5-inch 1080p Display, Snapdragon 835, 8GB RAM And 128GB Storage
With that being said, there are actually two different versions of the OnePlus 5 that will be available for sale. No matter which version you choose to purchase, you will receive a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, dual nanoSIM slots, a 3,300 mAh battery, and a dual camera system. There’s a wide-angle camera with a 16MP Sony IMX 398 sensor and a telephoto camera with a 20MP Sony IMX 350 sensor. The cameras are paired with a dual LED flash. Not to be left out, there’s a front-facing 16MP camera with a Sony IMX 371 sensor.
OnePlus sought to make the cameras reach the top of the class in image quality, with the company saying that the dual camera system allows it to shoot incredibly detailed photos, while using a focusing system that is 40 percent faster than the preceding OnePlus 3T. Couple the increased performance with a large f/1.7 aperture, and we have the feeling that customers won’t be disappointed with the photos that the OnePlus 5 spits out.
OnePlus seems to have an aversion to QHD displays, so you’ll still find a 5.5-inch 1080p display this time around that is covered in 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5. Measuring in a 7.25mm thick, the OnePlus 5 is the thinnest flagship smartphone that the company has made to date, but it still manages to have 20 percent better battery life than the OnePlus 3T despite having a slightly smaller battery.
We mentioned earlier that there are two different versions of the OnePlus 5. There’s a base phone (only available in grey) that comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage priced at $479. However, there’s a midnight black version that comes decked out with 8GB of RAM and a generous 128GB of storage. You’ll have to pony up $539, however, to get that version.
OnePlus announced “Early Drop” availability for the OnePlus 5 today, while additional stock will be on hand beginning June 27th.
