Alleged OnePlus 6T Retail Box Confirms Oppo-Inspired Design, In-Display Fingerprint Reader

OnePlus 6T Retail Packaging
OnePlus is getting to release a new smartphone, the OnePlus 6T, and word on the street is that it will arrive in October, perhaps as an exclusive to T-Mobile (unless you buy the unlocked model direct from OnePlus). So what will the OnePlus 6T bring to the table besides a faster processor? If the latest leak is any indication, the OnePlus 6T will have an in-display fingerprint reader.

A few pictures purporting to show the OnePlus 6T's retail packaging have found their way to Weibo, China's social media site. We can't say if the pictures are real, of course. If they are, however, they confirm that an in-display fingerprint reader is in the phone's cards, as shown in a diagram that is printed inside the retail box.

The diagram shows the fingerprint reader situated towards the bottom of the phone. There's a blurb underneath it that reads, "Unlock The Speed." If you recall, OnePlus used the slogan "Speed You Need" on the OnePlus 6 earlier this year, so this is a variation of that.

Past OnePlus phones have tracked rather closely to Oppo in design, and if the photos are real, it appears that will again be the case with the OnePlus 6T. The diagram shows an all-front display with a tiny notch at the top, similar to the Oppo R17. It's far smaller than the notch on the iPhone X, and looks similar to what's found on the Essential Phone, the handset that introduced the concept of a notch.

There's no mention of specs that we can see in any of the pictures. However, given that OnePlus is seemingly pushing the speed angle, we'd be shocked if the phone arrived with anything other than a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor inside. We also expect the OnePlus 6T to at least match the OnePlus 6 in RAM and storage allotment, which checks in at up to 8GB and up to 256GB, respectively.
