OnePlus 8 Pro Renders Reveal Punch Hole Display And Quad Cameras

Following up on the launch of the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro, we can now turn our attention to what comes next from OnePlus. That would be the OnePlus 8 family. More renders have come to light, and they show the OnePlus 8 Pro sporting a full-front display with a punch-hole design for the front camera.

Looking back, the recently launched OnePlus 7T featured a teardrop notch for the front camera, similar in style to the Essential Phone. Prior to that, the OnePlus 7 Pro from earlier this year used a motorized pop-up camera to keep the front display nice and clean.

A punch-hole cutout for the front camera is one that has worked for Samsung, and if the leaked press renders are accurate, that is the direction OnePlus is going with its next-gen flagship.

The renders come courtesy of Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) and 91mobiles. Assuming they're accurate (and Hemmerstoffer has an excellent track record with these sort of things), the images put to rest any notion of OnePlus going with an in-display camera, at least for now.

Front camera aside, the OnePlus 8 Pro is said to sport a 6.65-inch display, while the regular OnePlus 8 will have a 6.5-inch screen. Both will have a 90Hz refresh rate.

On the back, the OnePlus 8 Pro will be the the first in the OnePlus family to rock a quad-camera arrangement. This consists of three cameras aligned vertically, and a 3D ToF sensor plopped next to them. There's also an LED flash that sits underneath it all.

Other specs include a USB-C port on the bottom, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of onboard storage. It's not yet known what processor will end up inside the OnePlus 8 Pro will have—for reference, the OnePlus 7T is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC.

The OnePlus 8 Pro is expected to launch on January 23, 2020.
