Overclocking Guide, Part II, XFX 6600GT, and more!

Good afternoon folks. Earlier this week you may recall Apple's release if it's new mouse, the "Mighty Mouse". While not as cool as the old cartoon, it's still interesting, and today Ars Technica takes on the job of dissecting the electronic critter. Enjoy the rest of the news.

HIS X700 IceQ 128MB GDDR3 AGP

"The benchmarks paint a different picture than what our synthetic benchmarks would lead us to believe. The X700 Pro performs well, beating out the 6600GT and 9700 Pro in most cases, and in Far Cry, Half-Life 2, and Unreal Tournament 2k4 scaling better with resolution". HIS Radeon X700Pro review on Overcloceronline.com

"The 6600GT is a very good card but after my experience with HIS' X700Pro Turbo, I'd have to say they have a winner here. ATi based cards have always been the underdog with Open GL, but even so, this card still made a good showing. At the lower resolutions, the X700Pro had a consistent, if small lead in Direct3D based games. And though it fell behind at the 1600 resolution, it wasn't enough to matter. The image quality was good enough that I couldn't tell the difference between the two cards in all of the screen shots that I took" Overclockercafe.com review on HIS X700Pro IceQ TURBO

HIS/ATI Radeon X700Pro IceQ TURBO solution win over Nvidia 6600GT on Tweaktown.com "...a product that is well placed in that mid-range segment, a product that can compete with GeForce 6600 GT. Again I just really like HiS gear and this demonstrates a really good product. Thanks to the exceptional cooling, overclockability we can say that this is a very nice product to buy"

Overclocking Guide, Part II @ OCIA

"Speaking of memory dividers, this is another setting that sometimes confuses people. While the idea of memory ratios or dividers have existed for a while, AMD users were always told not to use them. I think it was drilled into our heads. Now that we can use them we need to understand that the exact ratio changes slightly depending on the CPU multiplier you use. The reason for this is with the memory controller built into the processor, any divider used takes into account the CPU Multiplier when calculating the ratio."

XFX 6600GT Graphics Card Review @ CoolTechZone

"Thus far in our series of 6600GT reviews, we have been impressed with the NVIDIA GPU and what it has to offer. Though the performance results are clear, it's exciting to see what each manufacturer has packed in to sweeten the deal, or vice versa. Interestingly enough, XFX offers six variants of its 6600GT graphics adapters, which, needless to say, adds confusion from the buyer's perspective."

Talkback: System of a (Break) Down @ Designtechnica

"Some of you are going to roll your eyes at this and say that parents get blamed for everything, but you know what? Parents should be blamed for this one. There are games out there that are incredibly violent and contain sexual content not appropriate for young kids. If you're shopping for a new game for little Stella and she picks something up that you're not familiar with, ask the guy at the counter his opinion."

"The Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLI is an update to the award winning Fatal1ty AN8. The biggest change is, of course, the upgrade to NVIDIA SLI technology, which enables gamers to run two NVIDIA based video card for the ultimate performance setup."
