Blizzard Entertainment is holding its annual BlizzCon conference this week, and at the event, a new leak claims that Overwatch 2 will be officiated confirmed. The Overwatch logo changes for the new game with a small "2" placed to the right, as seen in the image above. Overwatch 2 will see a full PvE mode along with new heroes and and in-game items.

One of the alleged missions in Overwatch 2 will be a four-player story experience set in Rio de Janeiro. Players will also get to enjoy a new mode called "Push" that will slot into the game along with the familiar Assault, Control, Escort, and Hybrid modes. The Push game mode will be played on a new map based in Toronto according to a document outlining the game discovered by ESPN.

It appears that Blizzard is trying to appease concerns from some of the professional Overwatch League players who have complained about some of the less popular game modes like Assault. At least one new hero is expected to be announced at BlizzCon.

Next year will be a big one for the popular Overwatch League as in addition to games played in the Blizzard Arena, matches will be played in local franchise markets. Broadcast media rights for the league are set to expire next year with Twitch; that deal was worth $90 million.

Blizzard needs a win as it has faced backlash over the punishment of a Hearthstone player for speaking out in favor of anti-government protesters in Hong Kong. BlizzCon will be held Friday and Saturday at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. We first heard that Overwatch 2 was in the works last summer when reports that a StarCraft FPS title was killed off to support Overwatch 2 surfaced.
