Overwatch’s Doomfist Is A Bad Guy Boss Man You’ll Love To Hate

Overwatch is finally getting a bonafide villain. Blizzard just announced that “Doomfist” will soon join the games universe, and he is an offensive character with a difficulty rating of three stars

Doomfist's mechanical arm means that his abilities mostly revolve around punching opponents and slamming them into the ground. His “hand cannon” ability allows him to fire a short-range burst of ammunition from his knuckle, while his “meteor strike” helps him to jump into the sky and deal damage while crashing to the ground. His other abilities include “Seismic Slam”, “Rising Uppercut”, “Rocket Punch”, and “The Best Defense…”

Blizzard has also provided a lengthy backstory for the character. Doomfist’s real name is Akande Ogundimu from Oyo, Nigeria. He was the heir to a prosthetic production company as well as a martial arts competitor. Ogundimu lost his right arm during the Omnic Crisis and crafted a new high-tech prosthetic. His prosthetic caught the attention of Akinjide Adeyemi, the second Doomfist. Adeyemi invited Ogundimu to fight with him as a mercenary and eventually introduced him to the Talon organization.

The student finally surpassed the teacher. The Talon’s motto, “only through conflict do we evolve”, resonated with Ogundimu. Ogundimu came to believe that conflict would make humanity stronger. He killed Adeyemi and took over the identity of Doomfist as well as iconic gauntlet. He was eventually kidnapped by an Overwatch strike team, but escaped. He now presides over Talon’s inner council and his goal is to start a conflict that will envelope all of humanity in a war.

Doomfist is one of the first true-blue Overwatch villains. Most Overwatch characters are morally ambiguous. The current existing “villains” boast relatable sob stories. Overwatch fans also hope that Doomfist’s arrival will help them to better understand the inner-workings of Talon.

There are currently twenty-five playable characters in Overwatch. Doomfist is currently available for PC players on the game’s Public Test Realm (PTR) servers. He should be available on the main servers and consoles over the next few weeks.
