Panasonic Introduces Class 10 SDHC Memory Cards
Panasonic announced plans to launch the world’s first Class 10 series of SDHC cards in Europe and other markets at the end of this month. Class 10 is a new speed specification developed by the SD Card Association. This specification is designed to meet the needs for high resolution consecutive shooting and high definition video recording.
Panasonic’s new Gold series Class 10 cards inherit the
attributes of the current Panasonic Class 6 line with enhanced speed
performance of up to 22MB/s. With Class 10, you’ll also get the ability to
write large amounts of data continuously until the card is full without missing
any shots or writing stops.
The new cards also support high speed data transfer from the
card to the PC. Panasonic claims a large volume of AVCHD Full HD video data stored
on a new Gold card can be transferred to a PC approximately 40% faster than it
could be transferred if the same data were written to the current Class 4 card.
The Gold series cards will be available in 4, 8, 16, and 32 GB capacities. 
In addition to the new Gold series Class 10 cards, Panasonic also announced a Silver series of Class 4 cards with a maximum speed of up to 20MB/s. These cards target users who are recording high definition video. All of the new cards will come with eco-friendly packages. The Silver cards will be available in the UK starting next month.
