Patriot Announces Mac Series XT SSDs and Notebook Memory

With a name like Patriot Memory, you'd think the company would be all about equality and, well, you'd be right. In addition to a full line-up of Windows friendly storage devices you're already familiar with, Patriot just announced a couple of product lines aimed at Mac users, including its new Mac Series XT solid state drives and Mac Series notebook memory lines.

"Patriot Memory’s Mac Series XT SSDs will provide users with a great alternative to traditional mechanical hard drives," says William Lai, Patriot Memory’s Product Manager. "Offering an easy solid state and memory upgrade, Mac users will be able to maximize their computing experience almost instantly."

Patriot's new Mac Series XT SSDs employ SandForce's SF-2281 controller, synchronous NAND flash memory, and a SATA 6Gbps interface. This combination results in up to 520MB/s sequential read and up to 500MB/s sequential write speeds, as well 80,000 IOPS in maximum 4K random write performance. In other words, these drives are really fast. They're also available in 60GB, 120GB, and 240GB capacities.

As for the memory kits, Patriot's Mac Series SODIMMs are available in 2GB (single stick), 8GB (single stick), and 16GB (2x8GB) capacities, each one rated at 1333MHz with a CAS latency of 9.
