Are you a huge Gears of War 4 fan? Well, no matter if you enjoy the game on a high-end Windows 10 PC or on an Xbox One console, you’ll be able to partake in cross-platform gaming sessions starting tomorrow, December 2nd.

That’s right, the “elite” PC gaming class will be going head-to-head against “lowly” console gamers. According to The Coalition team, the game’s developers, this test is being used as a way to expand past crossplay Private Matches to full-on Versus experiences.

“The purpose of this weekend is to give crossplay a trial run in a public playlist,” writes The Coalition. “We care deeply about players on both platforms and we’ve heard you, so our goal is to use this event to bring in a ton of data and listen to feedback from players on both platforms to examine the results.

“Conserving a fair, competitive environment remains a top priority for us.”

The game’s developers are hoping that hordes of players participate this during this weekend's event to get enough data to make an informed decision about the future of crossplay in Gears of War 4. “Some of you may play this weekend and never match with another PC gamer. Others will. Regardless, we’d truly appreciate your feedback.”

The crossplay test begins December 2nd and lasts through December 5th. During that time, Xbox One and PC gamers will be able to play together in Team Deathmatch, Dodgeball and King of the Hill gaming modes. All maps are included during this test, while maximum squad size is limited to 5.

The Coalition is encouraging gamers of both platforms to post their thoughts on crossplay and their experiences during this weekend’s test in this thread. The thread has already garnered nearly 200 comments and the discussion is quite heated to say the least about the merits of console versus PC gaming.
